What are you most proud of? I really like the overall effect - I like the way the hexi's are bordered by the white strip, so your eye is drawn to them. This was a bigger quilt than I normally make - around 90 X 80 (or so), but I was able to quilt it with no problems thanks to my brand spanking new, humongous, Janome Horizon 7700! The hexis and the white border were joined using the Y-seam method, so that was a new technique for me to try out. The swirl quiltng is my variation of, and inspired by, Leah Day's Spiral Ornaments quilt design. What advice would you give someone starting this project? This was a lot of fun to put together, but watch the dimensions/size of the Hexi's. They come together quickly and before you know it, you have a LOOONG row of Hexis. Also, I had to be patient and gentle with the Y-seams in order for them to lay flat and have the corners match up on all sides.
