Hexi Challenge block

Project Description

What are you most proud of? My sewing by hand has improved this month. Got through this block without any injuries and without sewing it to what I was wearing. (unlike the first block I made this month) What advice would you give someone starting this project? Envision what you want it to look like before you begin. Thinking of the idea and how I wanted it to look probably took me more time than to actually make it. Once I was done, it was pretty much exactly what I had envisioned before I began.

Q&A with gloria_friesen

cave lady asked:
Love the fabrics that you have chosen.
gloria_friesen answered:
Thanks. They seem to just have the feeling of spring don't they? Too bad this quilting project won't be finished until the middle of winter!
Surfside6 asked:
Fussy cutting is one of my favorites. I just think your work is terrific. The fabric looks vaguely familiar to me. The colors on your whole project are wonderful. I am taking your advice to PLAN before doing this block. I have spent more time auditioning fabrics than I have sewing on the first hexie block. I actually made 3 hexies, put them together and ripped them out Color was off. Picky Picky
gloria_friesen answered:
Thank-you. The fabric is from a fat quarter bundle called California Girl by Moda. The bees are also a Moda fabric called Honeybees blue from their cherish nature collection. I hope you post a picture of your block when you are done. I'll be keeping an eye out for it.
Northwoods Pat asked:
I love the honeycomb idea and the fabrics you've chosen.
gloria_friesen answered:
Thanks, I like the flower you made out of hexi's!
