Heirloom baby quilt by Kaffe Fassett

Project Description

What was your source for this quilting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Heirloom Baby Quilt Link to website or photo gloriouscolor.com What are you most proud of? I was able to find a home for it when I bought some items off eBay from a gal who was going to have a baby. When we moved to the desert to retire, I sent it off to Amy who had a boy. She loves it I am sure. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Gather lots of prints in tiny pastel flowers and then buy a diamond ruler. Separate them into lights and darks and start sewing them up forming a long row of the same shades and then sew a light row to a dark row until you have the top as big as you want. In this case it was 40" x 60". A good size for a crib or bassinet. Use a larger print for the border. No need for sashing. Use a washable muslin as the backing or a nice solid color. St in the ditch for quilting. Bind it with a few scraps sewn together. You are done! Enjoy it or give it as a gift to a new mom.

What you will need

  • Used tiny pastel florals. This is from a book by Kaffe Fassett called Country Quilts. It is an herringbone pattern using lights and dark's and alternated the rows to make them appear like a herringbone print.
