What are you most proud of? Wow! A few hours of instruction and my stitch quality is greatly improved. I'm not ready to work on grandma's quilt, but I am clearly moving in the right direction. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Watch the video up through Lesson 5, then set up your quilt sandwich and hoop. Then watch Lesson 5 again. Then before starting on your hand quilting, put a simple piece of cotton in your hoop and try to get the feeling for the stitch. It is easier without the batting! Then when you can make the needle do basically what it is supposed to do, load your quilt into the hoop, get out that glass of wine, and start on a very gentle curve near the middle of your quilt -- not on a straight line. Curves will hide the minor imperfections as you get started.
