I learned some new applique techniques doing this and had a lot of fun with it. The double reward is, not only did it help raise funds for Cancer Research, but the couple who bid on it are giving it to a favorite grand-daughter. What advice would you give someone starting this project? The applique tips in the book I took this from were a great help. I am fairly new to quilting, and appreciate new techniques and tips. The best one was how to snip the edges of an applique, fold it over a "template" and iron 1/4 inch over with spray startch to hold it smooth for sewing the edge. Made a perfect edge on the applique!
