Great Grama's Bow Tie Quilt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I'm proud that I was able to finish this antique quilt for my Mom to enjoy, and hopefully it will stay in our family for years to come. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't procrastinate like I did.

What you will need

  • My Mom had a quilt top that was hand pieced by my Great Grama in the early 1900's and she asked me if I could quilt it. It took me a few years to work up the courage to quilt it
  • but I finally jumped in and got it finished and gave it to my Mom in June of 2013. I quilted it on my Janome 6500 because I don't hand quilt and I didn't want to get someone to do it
  • as I wanted to keep it in the family so to speak
  • it turned out nicely and I was very proud and happy to finish it for my Mom. There were lots of good memories in the fabrics of that quilt for my Mom and I'm glad I could finish it so she can enjoy it. I wish my Dad would have still been living so he could have seen it
  • he was so proud when I started quilting
  • as there were no quilters in the family since his Grama who passed a number of years before I was born
  • he passed away in Dec. of 2012.
