Grannie's Signature Quilt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I'm pleased that I was able to finish this project, which is a real family heirloom. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Signature quilts making amazing pieces of history!

What you will need

  • I used signature blocks that were given to my grandmother for her wedding in the 1930s
  • plus reproduction 1930s fabrics. My mom pieced the blocks
  • I added the sashing and hand quilted it. The binding is vintage 30s fabric.

Q&A with sewhookedjen

cathyhenr1841708 asked:
How big are your blocks
sewhookedjen answered:
The blocks are approximately 9 1/2" finished.
gracielalomas asked:
What size are these blocks in middle and I guess u get the same size printed block and cut in half for the corner triangles??? Please respond
sewhookedjen answered:
The muslin blocks are all about 7" and full block is about 9 1/2" (finished). These were all hand cut by various people in the 1930s, so the sizes vary a little from block to block.
