German Wheel & Canadian Maple Leaf

What was your inspiration? I did the Irish puzzle block in celebration of the Irish half of my heritage and wanted to find a German block for the other side of my ancestry. The Dresden Plate is actually based on china plates that come from Dresden, Germany. Using the Modern Dresden Wheel pattern from the 2012 BOM, I used alternating Gold and Red prints on a black background, thus using the 3 colours in the German flag, and I christened it the German Wheel. I then completed the Maple Leaf block (not part of the 2012 BOM) in honour of my Canadian nationality.
