Fusible Web Applique Snowmen - a WIP

Project Description

What are you most proud of? That this is the most applique work I have even done and stuck to a routine of doing it for hours What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take extreme caution with using visoflex in warm temperatures like ours because the fusible backing comes off very quickly - I only buy a meter at a time and store it in a dark cupboard that seems to help. Definitely do a stitch sampler of your machine to decide which stitches will look the most effective - I went conservative on this one with only 3 different stitches and only used white and gold Gutterman because I wanted the snowmen to speak for themselves.

What you will need

  • Just used scraps of material I had in my stash - all cotton and used Gutterman Embroidery Thread in the top and Raisant in the bobbin. Used blanket
  • zigzag and satin stitches - just getting used to my machine. Thanks to Deb for pushing me out of my comfort zone with applique process - used visoflex to attach the pieces on the backing fabric - still not sure whether it will be a table runner or a bed drape for my oldest nephew - just have to work out how to do the facial features. Have the backing fabric and binding to make it a Christmas present.
