Project Description

What are you most proud of? I started and finished this art quilt in less than 2.5 days, and it wasn't the only thing I worked on during that time period. What advice would you give someone starting this project? The embroidery work through fused fabric is tough on the fingers...I wish I knew how to use a thimble better. Now, I'll need to give my thumb on my right hand a rest...

What you will need

  • Batik fabrics
  • quilt batting
  • fusible web
  • embroidery threads

Q&A with rmmhayes

KB17 asked:
Beautiful! Love the fabrics you used!
rmmhayes answered:
Thank-you. The sky/clouds one is a Debbie Mumm for SSI, and I can't even remember where I bought it.
Laura Wasilowski asked:
The stitchery is fantastic! I especially like those on the front door and the flowers. Thanks for sharing!
rmmhayes answered:
I'd like to take credit for the front door and flower stitchery - but there is a gold line pattern in the batik fabric that I selected, and so it worked well in the door and flowers to add some extra detail! Laura, I love your technique and teaching style - it's really inspired me to try some more fused art quilts.
