Friendship Quilt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? My attempt at free motion quilting. Once I was given that first block, I was so excited that I read and watched videos online to learn about the various quilt terms and techniques. As a result, before completing this quilt, I had done 3 other laptop quilts. Those quilts were machine quilted using stitch in the ditch, channeling, and then quilted using the various stitches on my sewing machine. I love how the quilt started to feel different as it was quilted. I was hooked on quilting. I felt restricted by the use of a walking foot and decided to explore free motion quilting. Rather than practice on smaller projects, I decided to take the plunge and free motion quilt this project. I feel so good about what I have done. I know I will improve over time. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't feel like you must commit to the border and binding colors at the beginning of the project. It is alright to choose the color(s) for the border and binding after you have pieced the main part of the quilt top.

What you will need
