Framed Abstract Sunflowers

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I like the wonky dresdens a lot. You can really see how different lengths on the petals looks on the middle dresden. The method was pretty easy and it allowed me to get my cutting done so quickly! Maybe I'll work up a little guide.I really like the way the frames turned out as well, I like the overlapping and may try for a "transparent" look next time. I really loved the quilt from this class that had that look. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't plan it out too much. Just have an idea of where you want the quilt to go and then let it blossom as you work. Blossom. Ha ha! See what I did there? :-)

What you will need

  • Cotton fabric
  • high loft polyester batting

Q&A with HoverGirl

QuiltDude asked:
Hover Girl, you are too funny. Love your sense of humor, and how you just decided to have fun with the dresden block. Which, by the way, I agree with you 100% - the wonkiness makes them look so much more interesting and whimsical. I also like the random-ish, asymmetrical layout, and the color combination really cathces the eye. Great job, and I hope you post more pics once it is quilted. :-) :-) :-)
HoverGirl answered:
Thanks Quilt Dude! I appreciate the compliment and I definitely will post the finished quilt.

HoverGirl answered:
Thank you! It's next in the cue! I'm still trying to decide how I wan to go with it. :)
mimis quilts asked:
very very nice and I love the quilting especially the looped quilting in the petals which matches the feel of the flowers in the negative space.
HoverGirl answered:
Thank you so much! I woke up with that idea and traced out the design on the steamy shower door to make sure I could quilt it continuously. :)
eepsers asked:
Really lovely, and the quilting is fantastic--perfect for your design.
