Project

First Free Motion Quilt

I used Marti's class Machine Quilting in Sections to help manage this 60" square quilt on my traditional Pfaff sewing machine. Several Craftsy classes via Craftsy Unlimited taught me the piecing method (Improvisational Quilting) and how to machine free motion quilt (Angela Walters + many others). The main body of the quilt are stitch and flip triangles of varying sizes and proportions using fabrics from my stash in a tone-on-tone black background. The borders are my own random design and are foundation pieced. I blended the colors by connecting fabrics that had two or more colors together. While I've done many quilting projects over the years, this was my first with free motion quilting. I really enjoyed the process.
