Finishing up projects

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Finally finishing it! I sewed it, batted it, backed it, stitched-in-the-ditched it, and started binding it... then got stuck. It took some time and research to figure out how to join the binding seamlessly where the beginning and end meet. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't discard your scraps! They came in really handy when I was learning to do the Broken Spider string block during Craftsy' free Block of the Month class.

What you will need

  • Fabric from a kit purchased on clearance. Thread. Fusible batting.

Q&A with NanaJeanFL

jfriel asked:
Love the fabric choices. I'm a bold girl! Reminds me of a Kaffe Fassett quilt
NanaJeanFL answered:
Wow, thanks jfriel. I love Kaffe Fassett fabrics!
Darns asked:
LOVE the fabric colors and pattern! Great job! This is a totally fun quilt. I know what you mean about joining the binding - I still have to think that out every time because I like joining it with a diagonal seam to match the seams I use for sewing the binding strips together.
NanaJeanFL answered:
How to get that diagonal seam was my challenge! I was determined to do it and finally managed.
gmhnQuilts asked:
Oh wow! That is sooo pretty!
NanaJeanFL answered:
Thank you! I'm glad you like it.
Bonnie Wilson asked:
Love this! I've made over 20 quilts, and I still have to get out the directions to join the binding strips!
NanaJeanFL answered:
Thanks Bonnie. I guess I better get the directions written down and kept on file! I'm sure I'll need them again. Love your quilts!
Marie Genereux asked:
Love it! I remember the block and I am looking forward to assembling the BOM quilt together!
NanaJeanFL answered:
Thanks Marie. Haven't seen many of your blocks. Sure hope you post a picture of your finished quilt. I can hardly wait to see them all.
