Fiber Wall Art

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I was able to mount this project on the wall. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I didn't have a way to mount my previous projects on the wall because I did not have the mounting materials such as stretcher bars, paint, adhesive, etc. even though that would provide a more finished look. For this project, I did not bind the piece. I used batting and a muslin backing and stapled the project to a 12x12 artist canvas. Now I know that this works, I will try larger pieces.

What you will need

  • Cotton batik
  • various threads and couching materials
  • artist canvas for mounting.

Q&A with Arlene C

Laura Wasilowski asked:
I love the texture on your wall piece Arlene!
Arlene C answered:
Thank you Laura. Can't wait to make more!!!
Carol Ann Waugh asked:
Wow. I love how this looks. You did a great job with the corners. Thanks for sharing!
Arlene C answered:
Thank you, Carol Ann. I need to learn more embroidery stitches and find more stuff to couch. I just ordered some sari yarn on ebay. I hope I like it. There aren't any local places where I can shop so it is hard to find a variety of supplies. I am totally addicted!!!
Kaydebee asked:
Very lovely Arlene.
Arlene C answered:
Thank you Kaydebee. These projects are very addictive.
Stitchensu asked:
The combination of machine stitching and hand work really works in this piece.
Arlene C answered:
Thank you, Stitchensu. I am still in the early stages of this craft but just love the concept.
