Q&A with Thread Head

debradais2756228 asked:
Beautifully done, both pieces. Is their a pattern or did you make it yourself?
Thread Head answered:
Thank-you! No pattern - they are just from ideas from Cindy Needham.
Unbelievable asked:
What a wonderful idea. I left snowflakes behind ten years ago when I moved here but haven't forgotten just how beautiful they are. You've captured that beauty in a very special way.
Thread Head answered:
Leaving snowflakes behind sounds like a dream!! WInter in just starting. Thanks for the comment.
LesBehr asked:
I'm looking at the close-ups, but can't tell - how did you affix the crochet to the fabric? Is each point stitched down? Was it by machine or hand? Beautiful work!
Thread Head answered:
Thanks! I attached the doilies with small dots of Glue Baste and then stitched them down by machine with a very tiny zig-zag and 100Wt thread. I blogged about it in depth here - http://joanne-threadhead.blogspot.ca/2012/10/design-it-quilt-it-online-class.html
SassySallySews asked:
Is there a pattern for this?
Thread Head answered:
No, there is no pattern. I just attached some small, old doilies to a piece of fabric, and divided up the background for quilting - just like the class.
