Ethereal Beauty

Project Description

What are you most proud of? This turned out better than my mental picture and I actually finished it for my daughter in time for Christmas! She took a "selfie" at Halloween and I knew it would make a great art quilt. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Be sure to know where you don't want color because once you have it down you can't take it back! This project was a ball!!

What you will need

  • Fabrics for the background scene and colored pencils on the figure. Rocks and 2 main trees are trapunto. Leaves on the tree are 2 fabrics bonded together to make them thick and three dimension. Most of the quilting is with So Fine thread but some variegated orange on the leaves and orange part of the water.

maryp972 answered:
Oh thank you so much! I loved your class and will definitely do more things with colored pencils. The fun of doing it was almost as much a gift to me as giving the quilt was to my daughter
Lola Jenkins asked:
I came over here to admire this piece one more time.
maryp972 answered:
It's so encouraging to get positive comments from the instructor, especially one as talented as you are! These Craftsy classes are so wonderful, that the students can just go back and watch again as a refresher for the next project. Besides, you are just plain fun!
GwenMH asked:
Brilliant! I hope I might one day be able to do something like it!
maryp972 answered:
Thank you so much. This quilt hangs in my daughter's living room so I get to see it whenever I go over to her house!
