Dresden Plate - BOM July #1

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I got through this one on a wing and a song! My husband made me a thick cardboard template, but I don't know quite what I did wrong, as when I came to put the fairy in the middle, the disc only just covered the raw ends of the blades in one place. I therefore fiddled it around a bit (too mean to cut out another fairy from my precious bit of fairy material, in case I needed it later) and managed to machine zig-zag over the discrepancy. I just hope it holds! One of the blades is a bit wonky, but I AM a learner! What advice would you give someone starting this project? It's easier than it looks! Now that I know what I'm doing (more or less) I might just make a whole quilt of Dresden Plates.

What you will need

  • Bits and pieces left over from earlier projects.

Q&A with patz in suffolk

K Lee 2Strings asked:
Your purple blocks are all so striking! I can't wait to see what you do with the finished quilt.
patz in suffolk answered:
Thank you - I'm wondering how it will all go together, as a couple of blocks are a bit short and so will need to be re-done, or have a little border put on them before I do the sashing.
sewno6373 asked:
really love you colour combinations your quilt will be lovelly when completed.
patz in suffolk answered:
Thank you - I was lucky to have lots left over from another project, plus some bits and pieces in my stash that blended.
MaureenParon asked:
Beautiful color choices - well done
patz in suffolk answered:
Thank you - they were all leftovers from an earlier project that's waiting for me to decide whether I'm going to quilt it or send it to be longarmed (something I've never done before).
Pamillia asked:
Another wonderful block. Beautiful color combos & wonderful fabric choices. Well done. Thank you for sharing.
patz in suffolk answered:
Thank you. I quite liked the colour on this one - but then, I always did love a bright mix of colours, right from when I was a little girl.
Caraline2 asked:
now that is beautiful, gosh you have been busy
patz in suffolk answered:
Thank you - I haven't done anything else for the past fortnight and the housework is now up to my neck!
