Q&A with BobbiSpain

opuas288168 asked:
Beautiful job and I just love it!! I'm going to make a pillow from the ties my cousin wore to work. I can't wait to get started! You inspired me! A friend of mine has all her dads' bowties. How would you work that?
BobbiSpain answered:
I guess it would depend on if they were clip-ons or not! If they lay flat, you could do the same starbust concept. If not, you could center them in quilt blocks for a unique effect!
turner asked:

Why can't you just use the ties as is instead of cutting them open, Or can you? I want to make one for my father in law w/a picture of the male generations in the center. How many ties did you end up using? Your quilt is beautiful:)

GLCon asked:
I want to make this quilt. Can someone please help me find specific instructions to do so? This is absolutely the best idea for old ties I've seen.
BobbiSpain answered:
I used a traditional dresden plate pattern...but made the "petals" much longer! After I sewed the ties together I figured out a good proportion for the center circle. I used one of the ties for the center circle...it's amazing how much fabric is in a tie!
Paula Nicholson asked:
