Down The Valley

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Always, proud that I got started. If it is in my mind, at some point...I need to do it. Something NEW I am adding to this piece as I work on it, is the threads that I left in place to act as sides of the trees. I first cut them off and then all of a sudden I was putting them back because they look like the sides of the trees and give them dimension. So I was sewing on the edging of the trees stopped lifted my needle and without cutting, moved it down the tree and then inserted the needle again and began working on the edging again. This extra piece of thread acts like the line on the side of the tree, I think it is neat. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Start slow and try things out, take pictures and get other peoples opinions. Don;t be too quick to complete the piece.

Q&A with kjfeathers

mo.sews asked:
This is amazing! AND I have that same wavy patterned fabric you used for your hills... ! But this project is amazing!
kjfeathers answered:
My next one will be using this fab but also some other ones so it looks like layers under the ground. Do you know what I mean. Then I can add roots and critters perhaps. I am always thinking.
Cathy Geier asked:

Surfside6 asked:
Magnificent. I admire anyone who can do this type of work. Please keep us posted - Nice to see it in stages so we can get the real feel of your work and imagination
kjfeathers answered:
Yes, I think that is why I take the time to post each stage, because I really want people to be inspired to do things like this themselves. Thanks for taking the time to comment on my piece, I really apprecaite it.
Irish Rebel asked:
Can you use craft acrylics or do you need artist quality acrylics? Where would I get Wonder Bond.
kjfeathers answered:
I used regular art acrylics and then set them with a hot iron. Jo-Ann Fabrics has heatnbond by the bolt and you can buy it online too. Not sure where you are located but there is a Jo-Ann around every corner.
