Double Star Block Cushion and MugRug

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I am most proud of the little mug rug which Amy suggested we do as an extra project rather than waste the little half-squared triangles. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I have tried to find the tutorial for the little mug rug on Amy Gibson's webpage at Stitchery-Dickory-Dock but couldn't find it... Sorry. If you study mine you can see how to make it or make up your own design. Great way of not wasting fabric.

What you will need

  • Cotton fabric and batting

You are all way ahead of me. I have signed up for so many wonderful classes that I can't keep up with them but I hope there is more room in 2013 to quilt. Your cushion and mug rug are beautiful. I love the soft colors you used in them.
desna answered:
I know the feeling Alice... I have signed up for so many I havent even started but I loved Crafsty BOM 2012 I simply could not resist the 2013 one, and thanks for the lovely comment
Darns asked:
Soft lovely colors - good job! You have really been turning out the quilting projects! You must have someone fanning your machine to keep it from overheating! See you in the 2013 BOM!
desna answered:
haha Darns, it is getting a little rest at moment as I have been entertaining my family and being entertained also... a well-earned rest:) But 2013 has arrived I think the rest is over:)

so cute. You inspire me to get my act together and get back to projects. I have been making corn bags and should be done with that in a few days. Corn bags are made from rectangles of unbleached muslin and they are filled with white feed corn. I make flannel pillow cases for them. You put them in the microwave for about 2.5 minutes. Great for hurting bodies. taking the chill off a bed. I call them warmies.
desna answered:
This sounds really interesting... making Corn bags, and thanks for the explanation as I was about to ask! I have actually a very sore shoulder at the mo so could do with one:) Maybe I will give it a go:)
