Doggy in the Window

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I've made lots of satin bound flannel baby blankets, and I've always wanted to make a pieced one with satin ribbon inserts. This is it. I really like the way it turned out!

What you will need

  • Flannel
  • satin ribbon
  • satin blanket binding

Q&A with K Lee 2Strings

Meredith K asked:
Wow, very sweet! Is this an easy, quick project to make? Do you include the dog pattern as well in the pattern? I haven't worked with any of these materials before but it looks so soft & cuddly! I have a few baby gifts to make & need quick projects :) I'm sure this will be a childhood favorite!
K Lee 2Strings answered:
Thank you so much! Yes, the dog applique pattern is included in the pattern. The ribbon inserts take a bit of time as they have to be pinned and stitched carefully, but I've shown really detailed photos for this step. The rest does go quickly. I'm thinking of making one without the inserts, too, because I think it would look lovely. If you're in a hurry you might try doing without the ribbons. The binding is slick and the tutorial is very, very detailed. The tutorial also gives instruction for making a simple, plain satin bound blanket that you can add the applique to. If you were to make it and run into any difficulties at all, my email address is right on the pattern and on the pattern page. I am usually very quick to respond to questions and I hope that people will take advantage of my availability.
