Diaper Duffel Bag

Project Description

What was your source for this quilting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Baby On the Go Diaper Bag Link to website or photo www.modabakeshop.com/2010/09/baby-on-go-diaper-bag.html What are you most proud of? Mostly, that I finished it! It took me two three-day weekends, a few work nights, two sewing machines (the motor burnt up on my sewing machine, so I went out, and bought another), and an extra Saturday. It wouldn't have taken so long if (a) I had purchased and used the jelly rolls (I cut the material myself), (b) measured and mathematically figured my cuts right the first time, and (c) hadn't broken my sewing machine. What advice would you give someone starting this project? If you're new to quilting, a quilting foot is a must. Also, it helps to use a sewing machine (or one especially for quilting) that allows bulk to flow to the right of the needle. Account for all straight pins!

Q&A with DeliaB

chantayd03@yahoo.com asked:
Great job. I too, have a special needs grand daughter and we made the diaper bag I wished I had when my daughter was little. Looking for another style for the wheelchair we will be getting and yours -( with a little modification- for our needs - sorry) looks like it will do. From one Grandma to another - enjoy life!
DeliaB answered:
My daughter was hoping to loop the handles around the specialized stroller, but it didn't work out. Unfortunately, since I haven't traveled with my grandaughter for a while, I wasn't sure what she needed. If I were to do this again, I definetly would have to find a way to strengthen the sholder straps (have it go completely around like the carry handles?) as the vent back-up battery adds quite a lot of weight. For now, the sholder strap is about useless. Good luck and please do share your modifications.
