Denim Quilt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The fact that I had no assistance for a first endeavor of this size - and the look on my husbands face Christmas morning when he opened it up and realized I had made it just for him. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Just take your time and know it doesn't have to be perfect. if it's made with love behind it - it'll be as perfect as it needs to be.

What you will need

  • Denim
  • quilt batting
  • fleece.

Were do you get the demin. How many yards does it take
LilMama5112 answered:
I actually saved up several pair of my husbands old jeans that were full of holes and stains. Then I just added patches with contrastin denim where need be and stitched around it to add some flare. I cut 7.5" squares and there were 99 of them total.

I love the quilt! My first was also a denium. I did the rail fence pattern--won't do that again with denium! Next one will be squares. I like the use of pockets, patches--I may also throw in some zippers and labels. hmmm, endless possibilities with denium jeans!

Thank you so much! It's one of my favorites to snuggle up with that's for sure. It's super heavy, but also super soft with the fleece on the backing. I think I just about have enough old jeans saved up to start another!! :0)
bgorner3701854 asked:
What stitch did you use in the corners? I have made denim quilts in the past but find the weight difficult as it shifts and the tack stitches end up pulling. So I made denim duvet covers and just tie the corners of the quilt inside. comments?
LilMama5112 answered:
I only used a straight stitch
