Q&A with Ann Petersen

Artmomma asked:
Ok this is not for a Craftsy class correct? Too bad for me. All the fabulous quilting you did on a regular sewing machine right? Are the squares quilted individually and then sewn together? You inspire me to practice more.
Ann Petersen answered:
No, this isn't for a Craftsy class, but I do teach the curved piecing. Yes, the quilting is on a regular machine. The quilt is about 36" square and I sewed it together and then quilted it. Most of the quilting is what I taught in Beyond Basic Machine Quilting.
Kay C Rossow asked:
I'm in love with anything circles lately and this is especially stunning. Do you plan your machine quilting ahead of time or you inspired as you quilt?
Ann Petersen answered:
Some of both. I knew I wanted the quilting to emphasize the curves, so I planned for the concentric quarter circles to fill each block with designs in each. Then I just started doing some of my favorite designs- feathers, circles, pumpkin seeds, wiggly crosshatching, swirls, etc. Just trying to make sure the same designs weren't in blocks that touched.
Megan Byrne, Poet's Corner Quilts asked:
I've fallen in love with quilting since doing your class. the silk makes a great statement with all the beautiful patterns.
Ann Petersen answered:
Thank you
Cherine Fleyfel asked:
The quilting is lovely and gives the curves so much emphasis! I wish I'd seen this 2 years ago! I made a table runner with curves and it would have looked so much nicer this way.
Ann Petersen answered:
Thank you!
