Crosscut

What are you most proud of? I love the color choices in this quilt. I'm not much for purples, but I think I made it work in this quilt. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Knowing when to stop adding strips, when enough is enough was my challenge with this quilt. It helped me to use my design wall and look at the piece after each added strip and I asked myself, "Does it need something else?"

Q&A with Jacquie Gering

Sue sew crafty asked:
Did you free motion quilt this? Im trying to find easy ways to dip my toe into FMQ. Love your work!!!
Jacquie Gering answered:
This is not FMQ, it is actually a version of straight line quilting using a decorative stitch on my Bernina that I've adjusted to achieve this chevron look.
Sue sew crafty asked:
Happy to hear it is not FMQ. I'm going to be in a workshop with you at Island Quilter in a couple of weeks and would love to hear more about this technique as it really is striking!
Jacquie Gering answered:
We can talk about this for sure! See you there!!
