How creative! You've made your traditional plate very modern with the fussy cut center and those 4 background fabrics. Very original and I like it!
Thanks, I thought it was a nifty take on the 'plate'!

You've been very clever in the way you've grouped your fabrics against the four background patterns - it really does work well! Great!
Thanks for noticing!
I like the way you combined your color and was wondering something. If you cut the background in four pieces, do you add a 1/2 inch to the square before cutting. Great idea. I'd like to be able to do it too but I'm a novice and I have screwed up so many blocks I've been tring to stick to the rules.
I cut mine into 7" pieces and sewed together. You really only need 6 1/2" sections, but because I was appliqueing the dresden plate I didn't want to risk it being a tad too small.
