Craftsy BOM - Chain Block

Project Description

What are you most proud of? This is the first time I have made curved pieces. I feel like my first block turned out pretty nice. I'll definitely make more of these. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Purchase a template, use an iron that works, and have fun! Story behind the advice. I purchased the templates from the site provided and had to wait until the package arrived. I was so excited to try curved pieces, so seemed like a long time before the package arrived. It took about a week. That wasn't to bad of a wait I guess. Anyways, the templates are easy to use. I do not have a small rotary cutter, so I used my scissors and a dissappearing ink marker. Worked great! The sewed my first two curved pieces together and ended up taking them apart with the lovely seam ripper. The remaining pieces went together better. Well, after sewing all my pieces together, I pulled the iron out to begin my pressing. Oh no, my iron quit on me. I couldn't wait another week to go to the store (waiting for my weekly trip to do my all-in-one shop day). I grabbed the computer and searched for irons, located one, grabbed my purse and keys and headed straight for the store. Made it to the store and back in record time, I wasted no time in plugging in my new iron. It works great!! So, I pressed all the pieces and afterward trimmed some pieces, but not all of them. I had fun putting the puzzle together and sewing it into a large block. I had a couple of spots that moved after removing pins. Overall, I think it turned out pretty good for my first try with curved pieces. On to the next...Cleopatra.

Q&A with Jazzy08quilter

Candace in Fl asked:
Sounds like you had a real adventure, lol. I guess I need to order the templates, I'm still on March. Your block looks perfect.
Jazzy08quilter answered:
When you are done making yours, shoot me an email. I'd enjoy hearing your thoughts. I can't get my printer to print the patterns out to the correct size. I tried several different printing options with no success. Then I found a website to create my own template for the Drunkard Path. At that point, I decided to just go ahead and buy the templates. Hopefully I'll make more blocks using the templates to make it worth buying them. Thanks for reading my post and making a kind comment. If you get another chance, take a look at the very last line 3rd block from the right. it's the one I really notice off from the others.
