Q&A with sping

4bird2 asked:
Your quilting is amazing to me. Did you draw the design onto the fabric first to get it so perfect?
sping answered:
Thanks for the compliment but most of it should go to Leah Day who instructs on the 50 free motion fillers class. You don't have to mark the design on the quilt but. I practised doodling on paper first before I was brave enough to stitch it out though!
Darns asked:
Wonderful quilting!! Isn't it great when your hands & foot pedal finally get it!
sping answered:
Thanks! It's almost an amazing experience when it all "clicks"!

Dena_Living Water Quilter asked:
WONDERFUL!! After finishing, I am sure it not only a skiller builder, but a confidence builder as well. By the way, what thread, thread weight and needle size and type did you use?
sping answered:
Thank you! I'm pretty new at FMQ so I used what I had on hand and doing that there were differences. The red thread is a Gutermann polyester thread and the white is a Mettler Metrosene polyester thread., neither of which have a weight indicated in it (sorry!). I found the Mettler had a nicer finish, less dense and quilted more smoothly on a Shmetz 80/12. I've seen your projects and they are really amazing....I have a long way to go! I particularly like the mug rug you did. What a gorgeous idea!
