color crayon challenge

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Actually completing it on time. Due for the October guild show. What advice would you give someone starting this project? If you use a marking pen double check it will come out. I used the same gel pen that irons out on a queen size quilt and it worked beautifully. On this fabric, the black lines turned white when I went to iron it off. I sprayed it with starch and a lot of the white came out but not all of it. If anyone has ideas to get it removed I'd love to hear it.

What you will need

  • green solid
  • inexpensive Joann fabric fat quarter

Gorgeous FMQ! I had the same experience with the marker, but the white just seemed to fade away after a bit. Those markers come in many colors. I think I'll try some of the other colors and see it they work too.
JBlixt answered:
I'm going to do the same thing, I have a set of mulitple colors ordered. Sure hope these lines fade.
Cindy Needham asked:
BEAUTIFUL!!! I would love to have a whole box of Crayolas just like this! I use the Frixion pens too and they can leave a slight white mark after they are ironed off. I have heard that a good steamer works...another student told me she uses a hair dryer. Avoid using the red, pink and orange Frixions...I've had trouble with the red coming completely out and others have had the same complaint. I am using the black, blue and purple. Gorgeous, drop dead quilting...good job! Cindy :)
JBlixt answered:
Thank you so much for the kind words. The white lines did disappear after a day or two. Thank you for the advice on the other colors, so far I've only used black and blue.
