Circle of Cats

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I am proud that i did not give in to the urge to pitch this block out the window!! It turned out better than I thought it would... :) What advice would you give someone starting this project? Paper piecing was a struggle for me. It was something I had not tried before, and I was glad to have the opportunity, so thank you Amy, for including this. I now realize that my difficulties were most likely due to my BLACK background fabric... There is just no way to hold it up to the light to check and see if the pattern outlines are all covered... I was "off" and had to rip a lot, and redo. Definitely use a large enough fabric piece to allow for plenty of overlap... my first atempts did not take into consideration that this is very important. Yes, you will waste some fabric. Also, some fabrics which do not have a "right" and "wrong" side would be much easier for a beginner, with this technique. There were just a few too many new variables, which had me feeling rather dyslexic with this entire technique! The perforated paper was very easy to remove... if there was any bit that was stubborn, a spritz of water loosened it right away. ( a hint that came from another BOMer) I would, I think, try this again, with different fabric... Amy's instructions are excellant.

What you will need

  • Cotton fabric
  • in black
  • white and red
