Checkerboard game

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I am happy that we found a project that was interesting for a young boy to want to participate in. My young grandson was introduced to a sewing machine several years ago and this was just another fun thing we found to make together. What advice would you give someone starting this project? This project is quite simple and uses very little material, scraps is all you need. It's quick to sew together for a game board, or you can use it as a table center piece. Game pieces are easy to find at most stores.

What you will need

  • cotton scraps
  • contrasting colors for the checkered part and bright colors for the border and backing.
  • batting.

Q&A with Betsy0

Ladymax asked:
What a great way to teach a child to sew and a very useful project. I bet that he aways remembers what he did with Grandma.
Betsy0 answered:
I've sewn with just about all my grandchildren. We started off with bean bags, one day maybe I'll make a quilt with at least one of them.
