Celtic Shamrocks

What are you most proud of? This was my first Celtic design using biased binding and it turned out better than I expected. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Watch a tutorial on Foundation pieced blocks before making the pieced blocks. Use biased binding so the curved shapes of the Celtic design lay flat.

You Can Make This

sew.goodwitch made Celtic Shamrocks with:

  • 100% Cotton Fabric & thread
  • polyester batting
  • fusible webbing

Q&A with sew.goodwitch

jenhw1825234 asked:
is there a pattern for this. wanting to make for nephews wedding present. thx...love your work.
sew.goodwitch answered:
I updated the photos with the templates for the shamrock. I do not have a pattern for the bias tape design.
jenhw1825234 asked:
Celtic Shamrock pattern
sew.goodwitch answered:
I made a line drawing of the Celtic Shamrock pattern the size I needed for the block. I placed the fabric block on top of the drawing to use as a guide for placing the bias tape. The bias tape had to eased into the curved shapes and pinned in place until I could fuse it.
Ken Griffith asked:
can these patterns be downloaded or printed ? EG
sew.goodwitch answered:
You can click on the template photo. Then use a click, drag & drop into a word document so you can adjust the size of the template and print.
midpineskris asked:
Love Celtic Knots. I've made 2 table runners & 8 placemats with Celtic Knots. They are so much fun to sew.
sew.goodwitch answered:
I like the way the flow and interwine. They keep your eyes moving around the design.
