Carpenter's Star

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I reduced the size of the blocks and it worked. The pattern calls for a completed quilt of 88" square. Mine is 42" square. What advice would you give someone starting this project? This is a great pattern if you want a fast quilt top. It is made with squares and half square triangles. Deonn in the pattern did some fabulous free motion quilting, I id in the ditch.

What you will need

  • cotton scraps

Q&A with Ladymax

Nettiesgirl asked:
I LOVE the Carpenter Star pattern and you did a terrific with it. I would love to try it yet don't have enough courage to try my luck with it. Keep up the good work. You're really creating some beautiful projects
Ladymax answered:
Many thanks. I also love this pattern and was very leary of trying it. I finally looked at the pattern and realized that it is squares and half square triangles and very easy. Go ahead and give it a try.
Deonn @ Quiltscapes asked:
This is terrific, Ladymax! Thank you for adding your project to my pattern page. I love that you used your scraps to make it. To get this size quilt did you use 4" units?
Ladymax answered:
Many thanks for your comments. I cut 5" units and trimmed them down to 4" to get close to the size the I wanted. I have had your pattern for more than a year and finally got to the point where I was confident enough to try it. Thanks for sharing it.
