Calla Lily

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The shading on the leaf- I think it looks so amazing. What advice would you give someone starting this project? It isn't as hard as it looks. Annette walks you through the painting process so well. My only issue- I'm not sure I can do it on my own. But the class definetly made me want to try painting more quilts.

Q&A with Skittl1321

Lola Jenkins asked:
Wow....this is so gorgeous that no one would ever know that this is your first time doing it. And it's hard to believe that this is your first time McTavishing. My hat is off to you. You have done a WONDERFUL JOB. You have the right to be proud.
Skittl1321 answered:
Thanks so much! It is my first time McTavishing (beyond a small practice sandwich) but I've done a lot of quilting- so I'm not new to that. I really hope to take your thread painting class next! I just love FMQing.
patz in suffolk asked:
I'm not sure what McTavishing is, but am willing to learn if this is the kind of result that can be achieved! I think you have made a really beautiful item. Congratulations!
Skittl1321 answered:
McTavishing is the name of the quilting stitch I did in the background- it was "invented" (or at least popularized) by Karen McTavish.
