Bouquet of Patchwork

Project Description

What was your source for this quilting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Bouquet of Patchwork Link to website or photo www.CarleneWestberg.etsy.com What are you most proud of? My first laptop quilt (62'x62') and the first time I completed a quilt using a bought pattern :))))))I did not have enough fabric for the back of my quilt, so I used up some of the left over fabric from the quilt top and now they kind of have to quilts to choose from:) I'm also very chuffed when I see the '2 Lou's' pictures of the e-shoots using my quilt. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I didn't realise the importance of having a larger backing fabric so when I sandwiched it together is was to small... so I made a pattern on the back of the quilt using two different fabrics... the last border was narrow and very uneven, but hey I have learned from that and that is what's fun about quilting!

Q&A with desna

Emafish asked:
What a special quilt!! Congratulations on completing it by hand - that sounds like a lot of work! Personally, I stick to machines; quilting by hand sounds much too intimidating!
desna answered:
I now machine quilt but only stitch in the ditch... have not been brave enough to try all those lovely patterns. Thanks for the lovely comment:)
Pamillia asked:
Pretty quilt, I like the colors & fabrics you used. We here call your backing, "Back Art". Well done. Thank you for sharing.
desna answered:
Thanks Pam... haha I didn't know there was a name for it! Lou is happy with it as it gives her to different looks for her shoots.
Clabby asked:

patz in suffolk asked:
That's lovely - and how clever of you to get the back so even - when I try to make special backings for my quilts, despite hauling them about all over the place, they always seem to come out a bit wonky!
desna answered:
Thanks Pat, this backing came by accident as I had not enough of the one material so decided to make a patterned back so they would have a choice for their shoots. I now know, thanks to Pam, that its called Back Art:)
kmc75 asked:
I love this quilt and how you did the back. So cute!
desna answered:
Thank you, I wanted to have two quilts in one for my daughter to have a choice for different shoots.
