Project Description

What are you most proud of? Using out of my comfort zone fabrics-- this is now my most favorite quilt ever! I rarely get quilts to this state of doneness-- getting the large sections to match up was challenging. What advice would you give someone starting this project? The long strips in between each block are tremendously helpful to get things to match up. I am not one to buy extra supplies, but I used those paper triangles to help me with the borders and they were tremendously helpful-- had about 15 extras in fact!

What you will need

Q&A with artbythebay

beth1129866 asked:
Hi Art! I'm getting ready to start my Aug block and have a question for you. At what point did you add your flower material to the inside of your basket handle?
artbythebay answered:
I don't think you're going to like the answer!! I originally completed the entire block with the same outside background fabric-- I started to do the applique-- was not working for me, as I felt my quilt was more geometric in nature. So I just loosened up the inside stitching on the handle, cut out the background fabric and inserted the new fabric. then I just re-sewed that inside handle. Not too elegant, but it really works fine. There may be a better way of doing this-- mine was just a fix'er up type thing. Good luck!
RosarioAL asked:
Oh so nice: I love it! You inspire me to stop procrastinating. All of my blocks are complete through September, but I have yet to attack the final assembly with half square triangles and flying geese.
artbythebay answered:
DO it! Just tackle one of the sections at a time-- its all divided up into quarters and it makes it really manageable!
