BOM's Done!

Project Description

What are you most proud of? There are 714 - 2 inch squares in this Baby Giraffe quilt, and I began to question if I would ever get them all sewn together and in the right order. I did and am very proud of it. :-) What advice would you give someone starting this project? You need to decide if you really like working with tiny pieces that much, or you could do like I did, jump right into it and just "go for it".

What you will need

Your colors are very feminine and joyful. You did an awesome job. Thanks for the heads up on "scant 1/4 inch seam" A roating cutting board is wonderful. So glad to hear the paper pieced blocks and drunkards path were easy. Looking forward to seeing your lattice and borders in the finished quilt.
Darcy422 answered:
Thank you. I'll post pics again when done.
DeGramma asked:
Wonderful colors...congratulations on the finish! I've still got Oct to do & finish Sept (ugh)....that drunkards path really slowed me down, but hopefully will finish this week!
Darcy422 answered:
I used two different Drunkards path patterns. The one with the diagonal stripes is from Amy's class. The one next to it is from McCalls website. It is a free pattern, I think it was called The Drunkard's Path Wedding Ring, but I'm not sure. It had wider pieces to work with which made it a little easier. But really I was surprised at how easy the curved pieces went together. Good luck with yours.
DeGramma asked:
Love your choose of fabrics! The backing I just found yesterday would look outstand on your quilt......It's a moddled hot pick, Earth Series 1 by Diana for Northcott
Darcy422 answered:
Thanks for the tip, I'll check that out.
Sharon Emilson asked:
Very pretty! What color will you use for the smashing?
Darcy422 answered:
I have a deep Fushia for the sashing. I think a darker color will look better than a light color for the sashing. Fushia is my favorite color, it wasn't hard to decide to use it for the sashing. :-)
