Project Description

What are you most proud of? Persistance -- kept at it until I had a block I liked & still trying new things What advice would you give someone starting this project? This was my 1st try at applique, so for us beginners.... http://www.connectingthreads.com/tutorials/Applique-Turned_Edge_Prep__D48.html http://www.connectingthreads.com/tutorials/Applique_Tutorial-Freezer_Paper_Technique_Video__D40.html Also, I just used my regular iron since I don't have a mini-iron. Used steam OFF & WOOL setting.

What you will need

  • scraps from prior quilts
  • mostly left over binding strips.

I really love your blocks. You're one of few who tackled yours in a methodical way. I like the way you made your strip colors & widths match. A whole different look than when you use the random color selection & widths. I don't mind when you have a reseasonable difference in strips beside each other. When strips lie next to each other missing by a 1/16" it makes me feel like you didn't lock your seams. Fabulous job!
Edie H. answered:
Thanx so much. Since left-over binding strips were my primary pieces, they were already the same width. So string block was fairly easy to line up. Broken spider was harder since I added some different widths.
