Block 6

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Making the block look a little "different". I did an extra slash and added a Suffolk Puff (Yo-Yo) to make it a bit more interesting. Unfortunately, the thread broke while I was still quilting the last area (the middle) so I had to unpick a bit. I may go back and try and finish it off, although I think I'd quilted myself into an area I won't be able to get out of!!! As the lines have been done in a patterned material I didn't do Leah's string of pearls as I thought that would detract from the fabric. I may sneak a string of pearls in somewhere later on another block. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Practise, practise, practise ...

What you will need

  • Cotton fabric
  • polyester thread and wadding.

Love your purple fabric! beautiful quilting too.
patz in suffolk answered:
Thank you - it doesn't stand close scrutiny, but it'll have to do!
Ann Rowley asked:
Great! I like the little Suffilk Puff...
patz in suffolk answered:
Thank you - I just felt this block needed a "little something" and put that on - my friend, who is a quilter, said I'd spoilt it (but I've taken no notice)!
K Lee 2Strings asked:
The Suffolk Puff really does dress the block up. Quilting is beautiful!!
patz in suffolk answered:
Thank you., I think this is now one of my favourite blocks. I wasn't very enamoured of it when I saw Amy make hers at first. Just shows, you don't really know how something's going to turn out until you try!
