Block 2

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Getting the spiral to run fairly smoothly. I thought I'd probably end up with corners and angles, but it wasn't too difficult to keep the curve moving, especially as I'd bought a slider (though not the Supreme Slider which was recommended). The only drawback with the slider is the difficulty I have in burrowing underneath it to change the bobbin - and you use bobbins and bobbins of thread in these projects! I didn't start the spiral right in the middle as I didn't want to quilt over the fairy, but I think it turned out okay just the same. Incidentally, the colours in this photo are completely wrong and I've no idea why - the borders are purple, not blue, and my picture of Block 1 is much more lifelike. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take a deep breath and cruise smoothly around your block!

Q&A with patz in suffolk

Pamillia asked:
Very nicely done. Thank you for sharing. :-)
patz in suffolk answered:
Thank you, Pamilia.
Caraline2 asked:
well done, looks good to me, im still a bit of a novice when it comes to quilting. but its about listening and watching and some more watching until you get it. one might see my one where i did the pebbles on one, and it come up looking brilliant. but of course dont stand too close. hehe
patz in suffolk answered:
Yes - I know what you mean by not standing too close! It's a bit like when I go into the bathroom with my glasses on - it's only then that I see it needs cleaning!
soma1773 asked:
Very nice curls, Pat! I don't think I can do it without drawing it first.
patz in suffolk answered:
Be a daredevil! It's far easier than you think!
Pam NZ asked:
Jolly well done... impressively smooth curves! So you are just a little bit hooked on FMQ LOL?
patz in suffolk answered:
I think I just MIGHT be!
Tanya W. asked:
You did a great job Pat! I haven't tried spirals before, but Leah Day's tips is what got me started on stippling earlier this year, she is a great teacher!
patz in suffolk answered:
I must say I agree with you about Leah! Just like Amy, she's an inspiration (and aren't they both so YOUNG!)!
