Black White Red Log Cabin

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Upon close inspection, the overlying theme is dogs, in the backing which is also used to some degree in the front of the quilt, and the paw print black and white sprinkled throughout. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take a good look at the many ways a log cabin quilt pattern can be used to fulfill any theme you wish. As well as it being able to be 'manly' enough to appeal to a man or feminine enough, depending on fabric choices and layout. The Log Cabin pattern is classic, ammendable to almost any need.

What you will need

  • 100% cotton fabrics and 100% cotton batting. I used Sulky variegated 30 wt long staple matte finish cotton thread front and back for the free motion embroidery work.

Q&A with NB Originals

K Lee 2Strings asked:
This looks so bright and cheerful. I love the diamond borders on the sides! Those borders are so unique and they really make the design pop.
NB Originals answered:
Thanks! I wanted to 'dress' it up a bit and had enough red to do it! My real love in quilting now is learning free motion quilting. Since I started to quilt last April, I've experimented with some quilt designs but now the REAL fun is doing the free motion work after the quilt is assembled :)
Tanya W. asked:
This is very nice! I love your border!
NB Originals answered:
Thanks Tanya :) It does add a little pop to the traditional log cabin doesn't it? But I love seminole piecing and that's what that border is done with. The more I learn about quilting, the more fun I have LOL!
