BLACK AND WHITE and Red All Over

What you will need

  • Raided my stash for the initial fabric selection. Gifted 12 inch blocks by my friend Carol. All my blocks started at 12 inches square instead of layer cake size called for by the pattern. I adjusted the dissection size of the patches accordingly. My final block size before sashing was 12 inches by 15 inches wide. Sashing was added and the blocks squared to 15 inches. The blocks were then assembled into 4x4 block segments then those were assembled together. The last seam was was over 114 inches in length for this king size quilt and was a bear to stitch. It is off to the longarmers for the sashing only to be stitched. I will do the rest of the FMQ myself. In part because I want to do as much of the work myself and in part to keep the cost of FMQ down and still have custom FMQ done. . . http://nonniequiltingdreams.wordpress.com/2013/11/28/written-last-week-but-unable-to-post-until-today/

Q&A with Nonnie1988

Nonnie1988 asked:
This pattern was from Pre-Cut Piecing Made Simple by Camille Roskelley ... the class was pretty good ... I love her SWOON block... but hubby wanted this one for our bed. Next time the classes are on sale consider buying it...
Nonnie1988 answered:
the class uses 10 inch layer cakes ... I used 12 inch patches as that is what I had... I just adjusted the cutting of the patches to achieve a better proportions ... I used 2.5 inch strips for the insets as I had lot of jelly rolls. Glad you like it.... Nonnie
