Baby's car seat quilt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? This is my second quilt made from the pattern found on the Moda "Bake Shop" website. It is quite small, with ties on either side, made to anchor the quilt to either a child's car seat or a pushchair. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Although this was the second quilt made from the same pattern, I managed to get myself in a real muddle when assembling the blocks on the quilt top. Do read the instructions carefully - even though I did, I still had difficulty, but perhaps that's just me!

What you will need

  • This little quilt was made with the leftover cotton fabric and polyester wadding after completion of the Caterpillar Quillow. The design of the Makower cotton fabric is "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" based on the book by Eric Carle. It is quilted with red
  • white and green variegated cotton thread..

Q&A with patz in suffolk

sunshine256 asked:
this is really lovely. I have a new granddaughter on the way and am going to try this
patz in suffolk answered:
Good luck! The disappearing nine-patch pattern is really easy (as you probably know already) and the brightly coloured fabric really completes it! Thank you for your kind comment.
MandyJane asked:
Really lovely. Hard to imagine these were leftovers.
patz in suffolk answered:
I think we may have over estimated when planning the first quilt (the quillow) However, I was very pleased to have surprised the recipient with the quillow in the first place and this "extra" as well. Thank you for your kind comment.
Ladymax asked:
Wow, I love the colours. Great job.
patz in suffolk answered:
Thank you, Ladymax! The primary colours were exactly what the lady who asked me to make it was looking for. It's a really bright and cheerful range of fabric.
Surfside6 asked:
The whole thing is adorable. I really like that red and white that looks like "Pick Up Sticks" from my childhood. I could do serious financial damage if I saw that at the store. Love your work
patz in suffolk answered:
Oh - you did make me laugh! "Financial damage" is what we quilters know lots about! Especially in the UK where cotton fabric is really, REALLY expensive now I'm so glad you like it!
desna asked:
Ooh I love this one pat and yes totally different to mine. Isn't it amazing how much fabric changes a project. You should try fleece on the under side for extra warmth, comfort and softness xxx
patz in suffolk answered:
Hello, Desna! Thank you for your kind comments! Yes - it's totally different, but do I have the courage to attempt this pattern for a third time? Well - possibly (if I'm feeling brave), and if I print out the instructions again so that I can actually read them!
