Autumn Explosion

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I really loved using lots of different techniques and materials. This is the first time I couched leather cord and I enjoyed trying out different stitches on my machine. In addition to decorative and hand stitching, I also added some areas of free motion stitching and beadwork. Lots of fun! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Let yourself experiment. Try something new, ESPECIALLY if you have no idea how it will turn out! The results could be fantastic. On the more technical side, I did the free motion stitching with only the top and interfacing, pre-quilt-sandwich. In future projects, I might opt to do some free motion stitching AFTER quilting the sandwich together. I think it would add to the texture and appeal of the piece.

Q&A with Bquilty

Polarjo asked:
I really like this. Did you work this as three separate pieces or did you just start with one and then cut it up?
Bquilty answered:
It was all one piece that I cut up after decorative and hand stitching.
