Project

Asparagus Field

What are you most proud of? EVERYTHING! In spite of all the technical problems with the finished art quilt, I'm more than a little pleased with the finished product - my first art quilt. I learned an amazing amount about how to do this kind of work. I'm already reviewing photos for a subject for my second art quilt. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Go find a quilt artist to learn along with! Forget books and videos. Even looking at well done art quilts (and I'd seen Laurie's in an art gallery last fall - they were breathtaking) don't help with figuring out how to do this kind of intricate landscape quilting art. This is an art form that requires lots of technical know-how. Laurie was most generous with each of us in the group, sharing her craft freely, helping us solve the unique problems each of our projects presented.
