America The Beautiful from McCalls Quilt

Project Description

What was your source for this quilting project? Other Tell us more about what inspired you. The minute I saw the America the Beautiful Quilt in the McCalls Quilting magazine, I decided that I would love to piece this quilt. I was just beginning my quilting journey and this was my first "real" quilt. It took months to piece because each magazine only had a couple of parts and I had to wait for the next installment. I slowly started to buy fat quarters for all the little parts. What are you most proud of? I learned "a lot" working on this quilt. Along with several other projects . . . . I hand to piece things together to make up for errors in block size, etc. But, I did it! Then I hand quilted the entire quilt over many many months. I absolutely love hand quilting but it's just to slow . . .

What you will need

  • Lots and lots of fat quarters
  • all 100% cotton.
