What are you most proud of? A lot of firsts for me on this project! I just bought random batik fat quarters, and started playing with them. Amelia said she loves geometric patterns, and her favorite colors are blue and green, so I used that as a guideline, but put my own spin on the quilt. I do like the final layout and color combination. Hope Amelia does too! I made up the dimensions for the blocks myself, so if you look at it and say, that's not a real Zen quilt, it probably isn't! It's my attempt at making a Zen quilt. Also, this is the biggest quilt I've made so far, it measures 82 X 99 inches - that's huge for me to sew and quilt on my little Janome! I challenged myself and I think I succeeded. Another thing I tried for the first time is spray basting, and I really liked it. Way faster than pin basting and I was pleased that the project held up nicely and didn't fall apart on me, with all the handling it got while I quilted it. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Have fun with the colors, and use a wide assortment of dark and lights for the best contrast. The blocks come together quickly once you figure out the color combination you want to use. I enjoyed making it, and I'm sure you will too.
