Project

Alternate August block

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Looks pretty good! I am running out of large pieces of my fat quarters so had to kind of improvise. What I'm not so proud of is my senior moment when cutting the curved pieces of the aqua/white fabric - kind of forgot it's directional! And no more fabric - had to piece these four curves as it was. So I'm going with the idea that it was intentional & adds interest to the block! LOL! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Cut your curves carefully & watch the sewing the curves video at sewkindofwonderful.com - no pins!!

Q&A with Darns

NanaJeanFL asked:
Wow Darns!! This is fantastic and will fit so well with your modern curves. Not to mention again that gorgeous fabric combo. I've gotta get that ruler. I just watched her 3 YouTubes yesterday. Her quilts are wonderful - but not as nice as yours :D
Darns answered:
Thanks, Jean! That ruler is totally cool. She has so many fun quilt patterns using it.
NanaJeanFL asked:
PS: I should do so well with directionals - can't see what you're talking about...
Darns answered:
Gotta love selective sight!
Projectpam asked:
Darns, another beautiful block! Can't wait to see the whole quilt.
Darns answered:
Thank you! I'm basically done with the quilt blocks - can't decide what to do about the border - I'm thinking the HSTs in the pattern will be too much pattern for me. So I'm going to let it be for a while until I figure out what I want.
Pam NZ asked:
I LOVE this one Darns! WTG you!
Darns answered:
Thanks, Pam! The Quick Curve ruler is too much fun. And how lucky was I that the blocks in her Curve It Up QAL were exactly the size I need for this subsitute block. Didn't have to do any recalculations! Yea!
DaniLovesQuilts asked:
Wow! This is fabulous! I love curves. The piecing in the center is gorgeous!
Darns answered:
Thanks so much!
