Adventure Time Quilt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? This was my first time finishing a full quilt using only free-motion! Look at that feather border! I thought it would be impossible using only my little domestic (the instructor mainly uses a long-arm in the class), but man, I think they came out great. I think it was because I didn't have so much fabric bunched up in the throat of the machine while doing the border, so I was able to get some really smooth lines (unlike the swirling water in the middle; that was pretty rough ^^; ) What advice would you give someone starting this project? I wouldn't recommend this for beginners at applique; even with my 10" x 24" spot for the piece, it still has some really tiny, thin bits that are a pain to work with (like their arms and legs). It was great practice for doing some free-motion quilting though; definitely recommend practicing on pieces you plan to give away so you don't see all your mistakes!

What you will need

  • The bricks are from a Stonehenge fat quarter pack
  • and I was so lucky to find that awesome border fabric from Joann's (I used it for the back
  • too)
